Behind Brown Eyes is my life story. Right now, I’m a 30-something year old living in the West Midlands of the UK. I’ve been through enough highs and lows in life that I’ve been told by too many people that I should just get it down on paper.
When I first started writing this, I thought I’d be done before I knew it. How wrong could I be. Not only has the process been more laborious and soul searching than I thought, but I also had far more many words to write about than originally expected. What was supposed to be a quick job has turned into a three part ramble. Like Lord of the Rings, just without a trip to Isengard.
Vol. 1 of Behind Brown Eyes can be purchased now via Amazon / Apple Ebooks.
From now through Dec 31 2024, I’m offering a ‘Pay What You Want’ offer for both the Ebook and physical copy. It’s my way of saying thank you to everyone who’s been with me in my corner the past few years.

The first part of this story takes me from birth up until the time I start University at the age of 21. It deals with growing up in a household I didn't realise I didn't belong in, feeling unwanted, and the constant challenge of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
A stint in an acute mental health hospital provided the catalyst to start, and though it’s been a struggle at times, I’ve gotten to the point where I’ve been able to relive the first phase of my life; through childhood, school, the military, chaotic lows, police stupidity, homelessness, and occasionally being able to grasp some of life’s brass rings.
This will take you through my time as a student at Birmingham City University, meeting people who would shape my life for years to come, and sowing the seeds for what would end up being a dual profession for the following 10 years.
It documents some things I thought I'd never get to experience, such as traveling to far flung countries, and going to the world's most famous racetrack. It explores my life as a 'boring' Town Planner / Student Experience ‘Person’ / Junior Academic, alongside learning how to talk incoherently into a microphone / headset.
This takes you through the most recent part of my life, starting at a time when I was proudly informed that I was a diabetic via a pool of blood, to being sat in the cold working out if I can afford to turn the heating on.
Marriage, divorce, COVID and mental health declines take centre stage here, along with addictive personality traits rearing their content ugly heads.
