ESPN College Football Ringtone: USC Marching Band

Reading Time: 3 minutes

So, back in July, during the ESPYs, the College Gameday crew honoured Lee Corso. If there’s a man who deserves his flowers, Lee is certainly one of them! The full clip is here:

I have a bit of a habit of clipping ESPN CFB Theme music. I created the first ‘long form’ version combining the intro with some loops I found in the 2014 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. That YT account was taken down, I believe because they didn’t think that my news story about mental health in Dudley was real and I got a copyright strike which led to my account closure. Oh well.

I was able to make a <30 second ringtone out of this video however. For Android phones, it’s normally a case of get MP3, select, and move on. I however am an Apple guy so the process is more complicated. To celebrate the (almost) end of Bowl Season, I’ve decided to make this public, in case you’re about to have CFB withdrawal symptoms like me.

Here’s how the ringtone sounds:

Installing: iPhone Users

You remember those times you had to physically plug in your phone to your computer to transfer music? Apple have kept this process the same for ringtones. You can’t just download a file and assign it as a ringtone. So I hope you still have Apple Music on your laptop / PC / Mac etc, and a cable to plug into.

  1. Download the following file:

    ESPN CFB THEME IOS

It has an M4R extension rather than MP3, so ensure you download this, and not the one for Android phones below!

  2. Open Apple Music on your laptop / PC / Mac etc, and do any updates you’ve missed over the years.
  3. Connect your phone to your laptop / PC / Mac etc, and ensure you click the option to both trust the device, and allow ‘connection’ if asked.
  4. Drag the .m4r file from your computer folder directly into the “Tones” section under your device in iTunes/Apple Music. If there’s no tones section, a simple drag and drop into the Apple Music window can work.
  5. Click the “Sync” or “Apply” button to transfer the tone.  You MUST do this, else it will not transfer over. This can be also completed by syncing your iCloud Library.
  6. Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Ringtone. Your custom tone will appear at the top of the list. It will state

Installing: Android Users.

  1. Download the following file

    ESPN CFB THEME ANDROID

Ensure your file goes to your phone storage, and not any external storage (Like Micro SD)

  3. Navigate to Sound: Tap Sound & vibration (or similar, like “Sounds”).
  4. Select Ringtone: Tap Phone ringtone.
  5. Add Your File: Tap the + (plus) icon, usually in the bottom-right or top-right corner, to open the sound picker.
  6. Choose The File: Find and select the audio file 30S ESPN CFB.mp3 from your device’s storage.
  7. Save: Tap Save or Done to set it as your ringtone.

Any issues, please let me know, and buy me a cuppa if you want to say thank you.  All rights of course to ESPN & USC Trojans.

Peace, Rage And Love xx
